Frankly, I am tired of venting on ubuntuforums and it is getting to the point where there is just a mass circle jerk of abandoned ATI users running around screaming at the hills while going nowhere. The way to get this to work with your trusty Lunux is not to use the ATI drivers at all and instead use radeonhd – the open source driver for ATI cards.
